Is Google Docs a Better Tool?

I feel like Google Docs, for example, whenever you try to do ad hoc work groups plus nested content, it gets really messy. And whereas at least something like Slack, because there's only one layer of hierarchy, you don't have the combination of ad hoc plus nesting plus arbitrary degrees of freedom that tends to get confused and Google Docs. But I think I have the same challenge with both of those tools and others that follow the same model, which is I feel like I'm just always messing up the permissions.
