CHAPTER

The Historical Significance of Textual Distances

I want to briefly chat a little bit about two other works in your repertoire that kind of speak to the idea of textual distances and their use in understanding different types of significance. So I'd love for you to introduce those two works. Can we map culture? We end up saying yes, we can, but we should know it's a simplification, not just in dimension reduction, because what we're talking about is not Euclidean. Supervised models don't have to assume that the distance, the distance is symmetric in that way that A to B and B to A are the same.
