Whitman also wrote a serialized novel in 18 52 called jack angle, which is a sort of dekenzian story of rags to riches. There's real need to apologize or defend yourself if you feel confident about what you're putting out. Sometimes prose has more transparency into themes and attitudes than poetry. And you don't really put that in unless you know that it's not very good, right?
