PBS played a role too, but it was mostly the daunt line that we're flying from Henderson field that were laying the licks on the Japanese there. The Army Air Force's pilots learned pretty quick that they were very adept at attacking ground targets. And this is shown heavily after the battle for Edson's Ridge in September and again, Henderson field in October where it's mostly U.S. fighter planes strafe the bejesus out of what's left of the Japanese are just straggling out of the jungle away from American position.
