The Soviet Spies Who Infiltrated Project Y
Klaus Fuchs was a German Communist who immigrated to England in 1933 as a refugee from the Nazis. While living in England, he accepted an assistant position with the British atomic bomb development program. In 1942, one of Fuchs' friends from the Communist Party connected him with Soviet handlers so that Fuchs could relay top-secret information about the bomb to the Soviet Union. The United States government brought numerous British scientists, including Fuchs, to the US to apply their expertise to the American bomb program. That same year, British investigators finally identified Fuchs as a spy and arrested him.
