Nietzsche said we shall have gained much for the science of aesthetics once we perceive not merely biological inference, but with the immediate certainty of vision. So he's sort of impelling us as his audience to go out and engage with this experience with tragic art. He feels just as definitely that this long series of apillenian artistic effects still does not generate that blessed continuance and willless contemplation.
