When kids are neglected and I don't mean material neglect, right? I'm talking about on an attachment level, attachment values. When they don't have a continuous interaction face to face eye to eye skin to skin with at least one caregiver, they adapt by self soothing and self stimulating. We call that auto regulation. Auto regulation is normal. We all do it. But kids who are neglected over rely on it because they really don't have any other way of regulating themselves. So that begins to set this course for being internal. Without social interaction, we have our minds only to rely on and the mind isn't Disneyland.
