The AI field was already quite old by the 1980s. Many, perhaps almost all of the core ideas underlying what's happening in AI now are also fairly old ideas. What I want to focus on is how do we get from where we are now to machines that actually are human-level general intelligences? And I believe shortly after that we will have machines that are vastly greater than human- Level AGI.
