The Evolution of Domestic Violence Law in States
There's a whole body of laws that relate to whether you can have a gun, what the prohibitions are against owning or possessing a gun. We used a report called the Committee on the Status of Women from 2015 that had a short chapter on women's security and safety. They selected eight basic laws on availability of getting a gun based on whether you had been convicted of domestic violence. First we started with only 16 states, thenWe went to 25 states, then we went to 50 states. It took as long as it did because there's no national database for this now.
