Game theory was taken quite seriously back in the 60s as a tool for reasoning about kind of Soviet, US nuclear armament. It still surprises me that you had people at the Rand Corporation drawing up two by two tables and one, the row player is U.S., column player is Russia. I'm not in general, somebody who advocates using kind of simple mathematical models when the stakes are as high as things like that. The complexities are very political and social, but but we are still here.
