Apophenia is the tendency to perceive patterns and connections between unrelated things that are typically random or ambiguous. The question is, is the problem too pattern recognition, or too little filtering of what's not meaning? Fes ogatan pathology, that's an open question. It a lot of other things on top of but that one question is still an area of active research.
