This is Lewis's last explicitly mystical book. He mentions a lot of contemporary things and contemporary issues, which he does not often do in his other books. There are so many present cultural references that are very dated to the early 60s. You almost have to go look up some of these figures, like who's Rose McCauley and things like that.
