With 2012 I think ultimately what that movie is about is about the idea of the transition from the battle leads to the good elite and it's always this false dichotomy that you come up in so many of these pop cultural artifacts. These politicians in both 2012 and day after tomorrow special day after tomorrow get all these lines about preserving the economy and artists, and we can't respond to the climate threat because we have to preserve the economy just meant to frustrate the viewer but also sounds so villainous.
