It's no coincidence that in a week where this common place idea that Britain isn't working reaches a peak because of the strikes, Rishi Sunak appears as if from nowhere and makes this announcement. I think there is an element of it. I think also there's an inevitability that something has to be done. The whole way it's working without dealing with it at source seems to be much more expensive. But yeah, to me, the timing stinks a bit. And also it is a problem that I think the public do care about.
