Ethan Edwards character is able to make this attack on the one family into this universal thing about sustaining a sense of law even if it's based in racism and whatever right. I think that that I do think that almost every other western doesn't do this so it is fascinating that that that the film sets it up as a particular dispute and then never tries to make the can never tries to force us to see it as a universal one, he says.
