Sulla, Save Rome
Lucius Cornelius Sulla marched on Rome at the head of an army in order to force a resolution that was by that point impossible through any normal political process. This was unprecedented and 400 years of republican government, no Roman commander had ever done anything of the sort. In their rage Sulla's troops seized the legates who came to demand Sulla's resignation and they stoned them to death.
