The Autonomy of the Unconscious

When this is operating unconsciously, we do fall into this kind of compulsive anxiety that usually brings great distress. It can destroy relationships, it can choke off all joy. If we can treat ourselves lovingly and with great care consciously, that may bring about a very different kind of resolution to this problem. We actually have this enormous opportunity to develop psychosperitually. And Jung's method for that is to actually bring consciousness into the symptomology by trying to forge a conscious relationship with this mysterious part of ourselves.
