The Mermaid - Beauty Versus Truth
I think quite often we look past the real too, whatever it is that we find compelling or tidy. The way that seafarers would think of myrmaids is that she is this powerful, tricksy woman who travels around by herself and has a lure you can't help being drawn to. That same marmatis, that the mermaid, as it were, rou the fake mermaid. It's the idea, somehow, of beauty versus truth. I've been thinking about it a lot lately in the new work that i'm doing, which, again, has this question at the heart of it. Do you want to see the thing you would like to be real? Or
