The Future of Science Fiction

I think it's mainly just something that got associated with a genre with certain genres and sort of stuck that way. I agree once that if you use it once and that one thing is popular enough that becomes the standard way of doing things from then on. The other thing I can think of is like every one he uses the metric system in science fiction, everyone uses the future. And it's just a signifier of, hey, this is science fiction. That's okay, but yeah, I agree once!
