In the World War two time period, black Americans were treated unfairly by what they called blue discharges. Fast forward into the present and a lot of the same issues remain with regards to how military justice is carried out along lines of race. "I think there's a through line in terms of how criminal justice works in the military," she says. 'The military hasn't done a good job of really addressing that issue'
