Last week we looked at how much rail workers earn compared to other public sector workers such as nurses. This week inflation figures show prices rising at nine one % over the last 12 months, a rate not seen for forty years. More than a few eyebrows have been raised by the return of the famous triple lock on pensions which means pensioners are likely to get a nominal ten% increase in the state pension next year. We thought it would be a help to find out just how pensioners are faring compared to everyone else. But comparing workers to pensioners isn't straightforward. You need to take taxes and benefits into account.
