The idea is that texting spells the decline and fall of any kind of serious literacy, or at least writing ability. Teachers are noticing a direct connection between an increase in texting and an increase in assignments handed back with errors. Texting tweeding reading garbage on the internet instead of shakespeare. Word processes that correct our spelling and even our grammar. Pick a modern tool that in some way intersects with reading and writing. And you can find it being blamed for the decline in peopl's ability to write.
