CNN's John Sutter says his blog became a conduit for information about the fire. He said people in Paradise, California, were reporting that they hadn't been told to evacuate. The town was at high risk because of its geographic and climatologic context, he says. "This was a catastrophic fire in exactly where you would have predicted one"
