The money that was coming into the country month in, month out has just come to a sudden halt. The nine billion dollars of reserves that the afghan central bank has have been frozen. And what this unleashes is a spiral upward food prices as everyone bids their local currency for whatever they can get. This risks causing many more deaths than happened in the war in afghanistan.
