You can't allow the crazies to have their own bubble completely unchecked, because they will bring more people in with them. The majority of voters are not going to vote outside what they feel like their personal affiliation is. A lot of people have this naive idea that if you make it impossible to be a conservative, then everybody will just vote liberal. But thinking that means you don't really understand the human condition.
