The Tension Between Art and Security in Parliament
The Scottish Parliament building was designed and built in the late 1990s. It is about openness and accessibility, but security issues introduce the opposite need. The art that is on the walls of the House of Parliament is celebrating certain battles or moments in history. There are parliaments that use abstract art, like for example, the Reister,. And this is another approach. So I think that diversity of different forms of art are important so that, again, has to do with evolution over time.
