When we buy things, the lustre wears off. When you actually buy an experience, you do something kind of cool and remember it fondly later. These are parts of our identity which are so important. By mixing things up, we create alternative stimuli. If we can use that to facilitate alternative stimuli, using our money to do that, we end up stretching our perception of time,. thereby living longer... without chronologically living longer and living a more satisfied life.
