The Importance of Supplementation in Breastfeeding

There's been some well-publicized literature reporting that African-American babies have better outcomes when they're cared for by African-American pediatricians. Traditionally, we have said between four and six months, it's important to provide a supplemental source of iron. In terms of vitamin D, while human milk is not a great source of iron in terms of percent or weight available, the bioavailability is quite good.
