Air Drying Wood in a Kiln
The bound water, which is the water trapped in the cell walls, is way slower to come out. So if you're air drying wood, you have a long time before you can build with it. They say typically it takes a year per inch thickness of wood to air dry. There is now kiln drying technology where you can put it into a dry kiln to speed up the process.
