How to Distinguish Between Situations Where the Mainstream Consensus Is Probably Correct

I think it's easiest when there's not much mainstream consensus in general, like virtual reality was great because I don't think there was a mainstream consensus on it at all. So it was much easier to come in with new ideas. And it's much harder to go in when there is consensus from people as to what the right way to do things are. What I did with Oculus was against the consensus tech industry.
