Despite the challenges we have today, they are not the challenges one would wake up with on December 8, 1941. I feel like you could look at an America situation in 1939 and be very despairing, especially in contrast to the rising fascists. And so, you know, sometimes leaders rise up to the top and sometimes they don't. So there's so many different variables that go into these things beyond the notion that Harry Truman was somehow destined to do this.
