Didn't the Apollo Missions Actually Go to the Moon?
As we get further away from earth, we'll pass through the van allen radiation belts. Radiation like this can harden the guidance system on board computers and other electronics. Shielding will be put to the test as the vehicle cuts through waves of radiation. Censers aboard will record radiation levels for scientists to study. We must solve these challenges before we send people through this region of space. Right now, we can fly in low earth orbit. That's the farthest we can go. Low earth orbit is not quite er far enough to get you to the moon.
