Security is one of the most important things you can do for your company. Don't write checks to crowds trike on day one, but ask how many analists they have and how complicated their ca process is. Focus on what you are uniquely positioned to do, and then write checks for everything else. And don't build something just to build it - look at other people's work that has been built before yours. Resurrect a career in security by learning from others' mistakes rather than trying to replicate them yourself.

What does it take to shape an early-stage security project into a product that solves real problems?

Understanding your customers is a key first step. Knowing the personas who can use your product and the leverage they can get out of it, it's what ultimately brings value to security teams and even other teams that can seize their benefits.
