In the twenties and thirties there was this idea that, you know, the industrialists had built these massive fortunes. They didn't want to be put in the position of subsidizing a lot of governen programmes. And so they viewed anything that might threaten that as a kind of confiscation. The whole thing maps perfectly into the realm of crypto - or at least bet coin. There are obviously other Crypto solutions that don't have all the same properties but bet point has resignated with this kind of hierarchical world view.
