The Benefits of Skeuomorphism in Design

The benefits for a designer of skeuomorphism and understanding how to create visually rich things is that people are more impressed by your work. It took you longer to design something to look like a realistic button than it did to design something that's flat. And so just because it's sort of less flexible as a visual style, I think it's harder to pull off. So there is that of course you can overdo it and that probably reflects poorly on you if you're just using that skill set.
