I think there are two things about this regime that we always have to understand. One, the 19 nineties were a disaster for russiayes. Everything was falling apart. And so part of the narrative of the putin regime is that, compared to disaster and chaos, we are not so bad. This is much bater like this is way better than disaster and chaos. The other part that's really important is that the russian political class despises what they see as western hypocrisy. You say that we treat our domestic opposition badly, but you gun down black kids in the streets every week. It doesn't matter if i'm inside russia, i wouldn't be patient
