The way the laws are written tend to ver individual inventors over teams of inventors, so that when a patent case comes to a court room that's between a individual and ain a corporation, the individual is often the winner. The flash of genius was essentially grafted around the notion that individuals are only the only ones kind of capable of having the flash of genius. I mean, it probably will promote more outside the box kind of thinking, just because i think there's a certain amount of group psychology that probably kicks in when you're in a lab.
