Is Baptism a Form of Identity Politics?

Baptism doesn't do away with our identities I mean a Jewish person doesn't cease to be right descended from Abraham you know or to be ethnically Jewish that would be horrendous. Our fundamental identity as Christians should be found in Christ himself and that's an identity that is not self-seeking that seeks to serve others that puts others first. The thing that saddens me about identity politics is twofold one it strikes me as kind of joyless and two it struck me as pretty divisive.
