The Life and Times of Seti the First

Ramesses II would have been a young man when his father Seti the first died in around 1279 BCE. His mummified remains showed no signs of physical violence to suggest death during battle. He may have died of a heart attack or something similar but he was certainly around the age of 40 which was relatively young for a man of such high standing. One of his first royal duties would have been to travel to Thebes to officiate his father's funeral ceremony at the Theban Necropolis.
