How to Build Better State Capacity in Pakistan

Local residents have a very low opinion of state courts. Key question here is to see if distrust is rea y the critical mechanism maintaining low state capacity. We shared with them information about how things had improved and hoped that those improvements would be applied in the local area as well. To test whether this information working and changing their opinions towards the courts, we played some economic games with them.
