The Romans' Decree to Clean Up the Battlefield

There may have been a deliberate cleaning up process that took place after the final battle to make sure that it didn't remain as a kind of monument to British freedom. The numbers that have come down to us from these writers are 230,000 British and 10,000 Romans - which is the wrong way around for British history. But again, so often, Tacitus is trying to do two things at once. He has a certain sneaky admiration for the noble savage, and he's worried that the Romans will become corrupt.
