I Don't Love the Data Collection Practices of These Companies
i have a mixed opinion about the exploitative data collection practices of social media companies. A campaign to chan privacy legislation surrounding how these companies operate probably will barely move the needle if it ever gains traction at all. And very little of it's focused on the individual's broken relationship with tek. So sad i'm tring to focus on where we can actually get things done. But i think that critique phasizes the degree to which a lot of the sort of alite cultural conversation around tek is really focused on what the companies are doing wrong, be it with data or content moderation.
