The Economic Possibilities for Our Grandchildren
UN estimates that it's about $8,000 to increase life expectancy to over 70 years. Life expectancy in Portugal at 81 years per capita GDP is $24,500. We can get higher life expectancies and higher levels of education at a much lower level of per capita GDP. Back in 1930, renowned economist John Maynard Keynes released an essay called the Economic Possibilities for Our Grandchildren. The standard of life in progressive countries 100 years hence will be between four and eight times as high as it is today.
