The Importance of Analogies

Is every thought experiment just a sophisticated analogy? It seems like analogies are an important part of it, that if it's disanalogous, we have reason to reject it. And there's a sense in which whatever principles we derive from the thought experiment, we can import over. The other one that I think's a classic lecturers trick is the experience machine.
