The city's vibrant, cutting edge art scene was dubbed too avent guard for the furer's taste. 14 jewish musicians were unceremoniously fired from their chairs in the dresden opera. All of dresden's professors, researchers and teachers were forced to swear oaths of loyalty to hitler in public.
