2.4% of people in Britain give answers to opinion pulses that show they are hardcore anti-Semites, according to a recent poll. This is five for every Jew in the country and it's not out of malice or ignorance but rather common ideas about Jews being too rich and too powerful. Why is it that these ideas are so common when actual hostility towards Jewish people is so uncommon? And that goes back to the very, very long history that the ideas and myths about Jews and about Jewishness have in our societies.
