The tool the cognitive walkthrough is probably my favorite technique. This comes from user experience research and it allows you to really learn about users holistically. The usefulness of doing cognitive walkthroughs kind of decays after you don't get as much more marginal benefit after five or six people. And then I guess the third thing that I would attack on is the surprising thing is that you don't actually have to do this with that many people.
