In 1936, the Washington rowing team miraculously captured the gold medal in the Berlin Olympics. A group of young, impoverished men were united by great coaches to accomplish the unthinkable. They experienced the magic of eight men rowing in perfect harmony, thus accomplishing something truly great.
What can we learn from them? Every dynasty, every great team, has had a great coach, who acts as a “tribal leader.” That person’s job is to unite the team around a single mission, and to get them to change from talking about “me” to talking about “we.” We’ll talk about how that shapes our community in Ogden, especially with the development of tribal leaders.
