Is the Ability to Conjugate Bilirubin Still Inhibitory?
The liver has evolved to preserve the capacity to conjugate bilirubin, even in other functions of the liver or family. Why doesn't it just get released into the bile in the normal manner? It turns out that something called MRP3 is routinely secreted back into the sinusoidal blood by something called OATP. This process of secreting conjugated Bilirubin into the blood and then reclaiming it back into the hepatocyte would be like "Why the hell the body would do this?"
