The Unwritten Rules of Being Respectful on Set

I feel like there are so many unwritten rules and you know it's funny you're saying you want to show that you have a vision so you have to express yourself but not too much. I've been on set where you'll get a call from an agent and they'll be like the model doesn't want to wear this clothing and I'm like she's standing right in front of me. Why isn't she telling me directly? She'll go to the other room, call her agent, then the agent calls me. It's like a weird circle. How come that happens? They don't want to be the bad guy right?
